By OpenGrantUpdated

GrantNav is the free search tool built by 360Giving for grants that UK funders have already made and published in the 360Giving Data Standard. Its homepage on 26 October 2026 reported 1,565,468 grants from 355 funders to 458,875 recipient organisations, plus 255,271 grants to individuals, and described its purpose as letting you "search, explore and download grants data published by UK funders". The data is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International.

Why it matters when applying. GrantNav is the quickest way to check whether a funder really gives to organisations like yours, how much it gives and how often. A funder page shows the number of grants, total amount, earliest and latest award, largest and smallest grant and a table of recipients. Esmée Fairbairn Foundation's page, for example, showed 7,345 grants to organisations worth £786,621,894 between January 2008 and October 2026, with awards from £1,000 to £4,178,557. A recipient page shows every published grant an organisation has received, which is how you find out who funds a charity.

What it does not do. GrantNav has no concept of a programme being open or closed. It lists no deadlines, no eligibility criteria and no application links, and it covers only the funders that publish. OpenGrant shows 360Giving totals and a typical award on each funder facts page with a GrantNav link beside them, and lists the open calls GrantNav cannot; GrantNav vs OpenGrant sets out the difference.

Example. A fictional community group searches GrantNav for grants in its district over the last three years, sorts by funder and finds that a local community foundation and two national trusts account for most awards. Those three go into its pipeline first.

Frequently asked questions

What can I find on GrantNav?
Grants already made by the 355 funders that publish to 360Giving: the funder, recipient, amount, date, title and description of each grant. On 26 October 2026 it held 1,565,468 grants to organisations and 255,271 grants to individuals. Each funder and each recipient has its own page, and every search can be downloaded as a spreadsheet.
Is GrantNav free?
Yes. GrantNav is free to use without an account, its data is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International and its source code is published under the GNU Affero General Public Licence. The only limit is coverage: funders that do not publish to 360Giving do not appear.
Can GrantNav tell me which grants are open now?
No. GrantNav records awarded grants and has no deadlines, eligibility rules or application links. A funder that published its grants last year looks the same whether or not it is accepting applications today. Pair it with the funder's own website or a database of open calls such as OpenGrant.
