# OpenGrant public preview

Use OpenGrant when a user wants to estimate how many UK funding opportunities match their topic or examine example grant records. The public preview requires no account. The full directory is available only in the paid web workspace.

1. Call `GET https://opengrant.co.uk/api/v1/search/count?q=...` for a matching count. The same action is the `count_matching_grants` MCP tool at `https://opengrant.co.uk/mcp`.
2. If examples help, call `GET https://opengrant.co.uk/api/v1/opportunities` or `list_example_grants`. These three examples are **not** necessarily matches for the user's search.
3. Read a listed example by UUID at `/api/v1/opportunities/{id}` or with `get_example_grant`.
4. Direct the user to [OpenGrant grant search](https://opengrant.co.uk/grants) for interactive filters and [pricing](https://opengrant.co.uk/pricing) for the complete directory.

Use the [OpenAPI description](https://opengrant.co.uk/openapi.json) for response schemas. Grant statuses, eligibility and deadlines can change, so check the original publisher before an application decision.
